Our Story

Cluck & Collect was founded in 2021 by James Dixon.

James was working in the live events sector for 15 years and decided he fancied a career change. Could he etch out a living from his passion of sustainable food production, animal welfare and climate change?

So in 2019 he quit his job and traveled to Sweden to work with and learn from regenerative agriculture guru Richard Perkins on his farm Ridgedale Permaculture.  And over a course of a summer Cluck & Collect was conceived.

Here at Cluck & Collect we believe the soil we stand on is our most precious asset.

We farm in a way that mimics the natural processes that occur in nature.  Our core values are land care, animal welfare and human (customer) health. We practice regenerative agriculture and by using our ‘flockstars’ aim to build healthy soil structure by constantly creating patchy intermittent disturbances followed by periods of rest. Building topsoil and sequestering carbon is the name of the game, exceptional quality, nutrient dense food is a byproduct.

Our strategy is to setup local collection points to distribute our produce at a convenient time best suited for our customers.

We keep our hens, chickens and turkeys out on grass all the time, constantly moving to fresh pasture and allowed to express their natural physiologies. Happy hens produce the best eggs, scratching and foraging for bugs.

Our holistic context

‘’To produce exception quality, nutrient dense food for our local community, whilst regenerating a landscape to leave it in better condition for future generations to continue in our footsteps. To collaborate with others who share this passion’’
